Whoosh impact of flood in Pakistani vicinity!

As the summer season moves during July to August that comes up with environmental ruin sometimes in affected areas. Pakistan becomes normally recognized as a rapid heating country. The key cause of monsoon seasons lies in the difference of temperature trend and other factors like emission of certain gasses, deforestation, increasing population, industrialization, that all occurs because of lack in following “the rules of Environmental Protection Act 1997”.
Monsoon blows from cold to warm region and change of temperature bring rain and catastrophic floods. The intensity and duration of monsoon is not uniform from year to year. This time monsoon rain raised water level of rivers overflowing to cities and villages, threatening the people from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province to the people of Sindh and Baluchistan. Melting glacier and global warming raised the rage and fury of floods breaking all previous records in the history of Pakistan. In this misfortune of flood, standing crops of rice, cotton etc were destroyed, “20 million” people are affected, above “1500” dead and more than “9 million” are homeless.
The extent of losses of these floods is 500% higher than the earthquake of 2005. Many villages were stuck and houses were destroyed and damaged. The international community is responding. Now Pakistan is at war with terrorists and at the same time facing overwhelming floods. The war between natural shocking forces and human beings is old history but with experience, courage and scientific progress to a great extent damages is reduced. After effects of flood are visible like destruction of crops, houses, lives, and belonging of people, rises in prices, and unemployment. This devastating catastrophe of floods was unexpected and sudden. There are remote areas which are surrounded on all side by water, making it not immediately possible to communicate, rescue and provide relief. Relief to the affected with the help of the army is being provided. Such type of a national disaster brings unity and courage among the people.
The way provincial government and federal governments, and aid donation collecting organization in all the provinces will cover a way for unity and solidarity. It is the best way to help ourselves instead of looking to others. This is a time as a nation to face disaster with courage and set up an example in history. Since government has experience to provide relief to internally displaced persons during the earthquake of 2005, therefore, rehabilitation of flood affectors will not be a new experience. Aid to flood affectors should be well planned. It should be organized like the internally displaced persons of 2005 earthquake. Some negative indicators are also seen, like the stealing of the belongings of the flood affectors. In Karachi some immoral persons on the appearance of flood affectors tried to occupy a vacant building against basic human rights, under section 24 of the constitution of Pakistan. It is necessary to keep observation on illicit.

Degree of bluntness of Pakistani news channels!

Country like Pakistan which has lack of everything is surprisingly abounded in the news channels. No one knows exactly how many news channels our country have but exactly knows they are many and still growing aggressively. The news channels with stimulating slogans and well built graphic techniques appealing today’s children too that have nothing to understand it. Commonly people like them because they are up dating us with latest news of the Pakistan or now more of about our city (042). They are providing us more employment, awareness, education and political situation the more curious one issue.
Pakistan has a number of channels which are more popular among people like Geo News, ARY News, Dawn News, Express News, Duniya News, Samma News, Waqt News, Indus News, Channel 5, Royal News, City 42 and one Pakistani official News channel PTV News. But with what they up dating is only deteriorating our psychological stability, Depression, Isolation, frustration, hatred, selfishness, criticism, chaos and confusion. Every Pakistani child knows what mobile, TV, Car, vehicles, internet is but nobody knows how these things are made and how they work.
Today our youth is wasting his time in front of these news channels because what do our children actually watch? Education about TNT, explosives, child and women rapes, human corpses, human flesh, human beheaded bodies, blood, tears, and complains. Talk shows based on science and technology, human history, world affairs OR Talk shows just about Stupid and corrupted Politicians in Pakistan. Are we receiving updated news about world or just Pakistan? What do we see in entertainment news? Off course nothing but stupid news about “porn Indian Film Industry”.
Crimes involving violence occur in large scale everywhere but no media ever shows the A-Z crime scene to the general public because they don’t want to violate the innocent minds of their young generation with horrifying videos and pictures but what happens in Pakistan is that not only the crime story is discussed in detail but they all show the crime blooded tools and crime location filled with blood and human corpses. They show blooded and burned human body parts live on their channels to our Children. Our children today know more about explosive devices and metal tools than they do about Science and technology.
The youth of Pakistan is losing trust on their country. Every literate Pakistani is in hurry to leave Pakistan as soon as Possible. Today more highly qualified Pakistani young gentlemen are serving Foreign Nations than serving their Homeland. And this is what westerns dream to see “a Confused Muslim Nation, with its youth with no purpose in life” and no attention towards Science and human development. News Channels serve only to show the bad about Pakistanis and Muslim. In short Most of these channels are ran and funded by western Companies. This Business is bringing them jewels plus serving their religious motives. This scenario is very important as a Pakistani to analyze and deal with it collectively.

Immense Water Crisis in Pakistan!

In fact, water sector is repeatedly ignored by successive governments and due to that, Pakistan is also rapidly losing its legitimate water share of Rivers under Indus Basin Treaty. Due to that, severe effects have started to appear in our society like depletion of water level in cities grounds, lack of water in canals and rapid drying of Rivers. All these are consequences of Pakistan Govt. negligence.
Provision of pure water to all the people by the government is not only a basic need and precondition for a healthy life but it is also a vital human right of all the people which mustn’t be ignored at any cost. The whole structure of human life revolves round it. In Pakistan, the unconstrained and more than needed population detonation has heightened the need to ensure constant access to improved drinking water supply especially in mega cities like Karachi and Lahore where traces of multiple deadly fundamentals including the human feces are reported by laboratory reports. This shows height of criminal neglect exhibited by the civic bodies towards public right of safe drinking water.
Water is accepted in Islamic teachings as an essential source of life; of which, everybody has the right to a fair share. According to a Hadith, it was stated by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) “Muslims have common share in three things: grass, water and fire”. Moreover, the Holy Quran has also warned the human beings against unfair distribution of common goods and Islamic scholars agree that Islam forbids unfair assumptions, exploitation and uneven earnings of common goods like water.
It is reported in the media many times that the global water shortage of affordable and safe drinking water is conspicuously visible in Pakistan with an estimated 44 percent of the total population is without any access to safe drinking water. This scarcity of clean drinking water can be more visibly seen in rural areas where up to 90 percent of the inhabitants may lack such access. On the other side, only three percent of Pakistan’s sweet water resources are used for household purposes and drinking. As one warning of the high-scale of the drinking problem prevalent in our society and the public ignorance of it, it is anticipated that more than 2.5 lac infant children die of diarrheal diseases every year.
Bottled water, it may be noted, should not be taken as an appropriate replacement to a sufficient service of tap-water as due to the lack of it, ill fated buyers are forced to use bottled water. During the past thirty years, use of bottled water is increasingly moved up the world over, as it has become a global phenomenon. Bottled water sector, despite its excessively high price compared to tap water, is measured as one of the powerful sectors of all the food and beverage trade as its consumption increases by an average of 12% every year. Government has termed the bottled water market, with 33 million liters of consumption per annum in 2009 & still the ratio is growing by a multiplication factor.

Importance of work/life balance & Pakistani organizations

Work-life balance is a broad concept including proper prioritizing between "work" (career and ambition) on one hand and "life" (pleasure, leisure, family and spiritual development) on the other. Anyone can say it a "lifestyle balancing approach". Many employees believe that it is due to the advance technology & globalization and a critical harm to social life plus an increase in physique related neuroskeletal disorders from a combination of stress and ergonomic stressors. It is clear that problems caused by stress have become a major concern to both employers and employees.
The importance of work/life balance can count through a series of afterward problems if someone missing it and have symptoms of stress. These are manifested both physiologically and psychologically. Persistent stress can result in cardiovascular disease, sexual health problems, a weaker immune system and frequent headaches, stiff muscles, or backache. It can also result in poor coping skills, irritability, jumpiness, insecurity, exhaustion, and difficulty concentrating. Stress may also perpetuate or lead to binge eating, smoking, or dependency on antidepressants.
When work takes priority over family it is Work to Family Interference (WIF). This type of conflict is mostly seen in male employees as they are more committed toward their work responsibilities in relation to the family responsibilities. However, women are not fully exempted with this type of conflict. When family responsibilities become a hindrance to perform the work effectively it becomes Family to Work Interference (FIW). Many factors contribute to intensify family to work interference which mainly includes family responsibilities such as child and elderly care. The conflict between work and family is now become a crisis for the organizations. With the increase in dual family parents, more job demand and long working hours made it almost impossible to create a balance between work and family.
Pakistan is one of the fast growing economies in the world. Economical and social changes in the last three decades has changed the family and work settings. The increasing rate of inflation changed the working setups in the country. The monthly expenditures are also escalating because of higher rate of inflation. This resulted in the emergence of dual family earners. The monthly expenditure in the year 1996 – 2000 was Rs 6757 in the urban areas of Pakistan which increase to Rs 8997 in the year 2001 - 2004, Rs 9121 in 2005-06, Rs 10583 in 2006-08 and escalated to Rs 15000 2009 - 2010. To maintain the standard of living now both husband and wives has to work and the concept of single earner family is unfortunately diminishing.
As the wave of globalization captured the Pakistani markets the job became more demanding and the working hours also increases. The fast pace economical development in the country has demanded more efforts from its employees. Now organizations in Pakistan are paying off good salary packages, compensation and benefits but the nature of the work is more demanding. The work related stress, work pressure, long working hours leads to job dissatisfaction which is one of the main hinder in the factors related to work/family interferences.

Good Governance tribulations in Pakistan

The issue of governance is a key component of policies for economic development. Good governance acts as a positive force to influence economic growth. A growing amount of available evidence suggests that lack of quality governance hinders growth and investment, and aggravates poverty and inequality. As the matter of fact developing countries are characterized by weak institutions, low growth, poverty and inequality all which translate into low levels of human development. The multiplicative effects of these outcomes result in poverty traps that are extremely difficult to break out.
Good governance can lead a country to achieve high and sustained economic growth by establishing conducive environment for saving and investment, risk taking, providing incentives to producers, creating certainty in markets, increasing the size of markets by removing barriers to international trade and improvements in competitiveness. It is a key component in the development factors. The emphasis on reforming economies to achieve high rates of economic growth is largely motivated by the fact that economic growth associates with lower poverty rates and improvements in the quality of life. It is assumed that there is a strong link between economic growth and poverty reduction.
Basically, Governance means process of decision-making and the process by which decisions are implemented. The quality of governance is determined by the impact of this exercise of power on the quality of life enjoyed by the citizens. Governance can be used in several contexts such as international governance, corporate governance, national governance and local governance. Government is one of the actors in governance. Asian Development Bank (1995) identified four basic elements of good governance such as accountability, participation, predictability and transparency.
Political Governance consists of two factors as (i) Voice and accountability. (ii) Political instability and violence. The political governance indicator is intended to capture the process by which government is selected, monitored and replaced. Indicator such as “voice and accountability” measures political, civil, human rights and independence of the media. It includes a number of indicators measuring various aspects of political process, civil liberties and political rights. It measures the extent to which citizens of a country are able to participate in the selection of government while the “political instability” indicator captures whether the government in power will be destabilized or overthrown by possibly unconstitutional or violent means, including military cop, terrorism etc. Pakistan after analyzing on both factors is a politically instable country.
Economic Governance has also two factors as (i) Government effectiveness. (ii) Regulatory quality. These two indicators summarize various indicators that include the government’s capacity to effectively formulate and implement sound policies. The thrust of this is on the input required government to be able to produce or implement good policies and quality delivery of public good. The ‘regulatory quality’ governance indicator includes measures of the incidence of market unfriendly policies such as price control or inadequate bank supervision, as well as the perceptions of the burdens imposed by excessive regulation in area such as foreign trade and business development. Pakistan is also weak on these grounds.
To remedies these solution what Pakistan needs is to develop proper and transparent process of elections so that right leadership can come on up front. Also planning in every exist but poor implementation is ruining image of government all over the country and abroad which require a serious heed to resolve issues like that.

2010 PAKISTAN-CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES

In 2010, Pakistan still faces fundamental questions of identity, governance, state and nation-building. Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party and widower of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was elected Pakistan’s president in an indirect election on 6 September 2008. Zardai’s foremost challenge was to be best in restoration of peace and stability in Pakistan. The most critical challenge that Pakistan, under the leadership of Zardari, faces is geographically concentrated in the country’s western border region with Afghanistan, a challenge that maintains both regional and international dynamics.
Since 1947, Pakistan has had hostile relations with both its eastern and western neighbors – India and Afghanistan. Over the past six decades, the mutual relations between these two countries have been held inmate to larger regional and global alignments, pressures and interests. To improve the relationship with Afghanistan the president, Yousaf Raza Gillani, promised to bring “economic, social, and political reforms” to the tribal areas, where illiteracy and poverty have created conditions for terrorism to spread.
One other big challenge for Pakistan is the rise in sectarian violence between extremist Shiite and Sunni militant factions. The Shiite-Sunni conflict started in Pakistan in the mid-1980’s and has since resulted in an estimated 5,000 deaths. Though the extremists are supported by Saudi Arabia and the Sunni Gulf states on the one hand and revolutionary Shiite Iran on the other, innocent people are the most common victims of the violence unleashed by them.
Despite the centricity of the post-9/11 ‘war on terrorism’ and the current security concerns in the tribal regions bordering Afghanistan, India has always been Pakistan’s main agonize. The 1947 partition of India into two states, Pakistan and India, both solved and created a range of problems from ethno-religious to territorial. Real and tangible peace has yet to be achieved between these two states that have waged three wars over the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, and continue to spend considerable portions of their national wealth and political energies on advancing their particular goals over the future of Kashmir.
The emergence and declaration of a chirpy civil society, the spirit of the business community and the moderation of a very large segment of the Pakistani population are key assets that Pakistan can utilize in establishing a vivacious democracy with stable public and political relations. This may, in turn, provide Pakistan with additional international leverage and add to constructing an environment conducive to negotiated settlements with its neighbors and the international community at large over the variety of issues currently impeding Pakistani development.
In the long-term Pakistan will also have to engage in human development to follow the economic development models of its Asian neighbors to its east. This implies that a larger part of its GDP should be spent on the welfare of its people instead of the financially draining political & military lobby. Most significantly, Pakistani privileged has yet to agree on a unified future vision and work hard to achieve it. Again this implies the active support of the international community, which must recognize that for the sake of international peace, prosperity and stability, Pakistan must be engaged with and not isolated.
